Letter from The Chairman 2019

Dear ERCOFTAC Member,

On behalf of ERCOFTAC, I would like to wish you a Happy and Productive New Year 2019!

It is very pleasing to see that our community has thrived and pursued a broad range of cutting edge FTAC technologies in 2018. We would like to thank you for your support and involvement in our activities in 2018 and we are looking forward to an exciting and creative 2019. Details of many great events planned for the next year can be found at our recently re-launched website http://www.ercoftac.org/events/

During 2018 ERCOFTAC organised and funded many specialized, state-of-the-art Workshops and Summer Schools including the 12th International ERCOFTAC Symposium on Engineering Turbulence Modelling and Measurements (ETMM12) which was held in Montpellier, France or the 13th ERCOFTAC SIG 33 Workshop: Progress in Flow Instability, Transition and Control, which took place in Paraty, Brazil, among several others.

The results and reports from these activities were published in our ERCOFTAC Bulletin. As in previous years, a professional course programme targeted to industry’s interests and needs was organised and executed with very positive feedback.

We are proud of ERCOFTAC’s 3 Best Practice Guides (BPG) of Industrial CFD books, namely, single phase, multiphase and combustion. All BPGs are now available on the ERCOFTAC website with a special price offer for ERCOFTAC members. Finally, our ERCOFTAC Quarterly Newsletter was launched in 2016 and is now sent to an extended mailing list four times per year with information and links to all exciting, current and future, activities organized by ERCOFTAC.

ERCOFTAC’s operation relies almost exclusively on the revenues generated directly from the annual membership fees of our Institutional members. The stronger our membership base the higher the return will be to the FTAC community at large. This return is in the form of state-of-the-art events like Courses, Workshops, Summer Schools, Technology Awareness days, Conferences and Award competitions, like the da Vinci PhD Award Competition - as well as publications - like the ERCOFTAC Bulletin, Book Series, FTAC Journal and Best Practice Guides.

We are confident you will see the value in renewing your membership and your support to ERCOFTAC. Receiving membership dues in the first quarter of 2019 would significantly alleviate our costs and underpin progress, for which we would be grateful. Every new and renewed membership helps ERCOFTAC continue to provide high quality services to the FTAC community!
