The third edition of the FrontUQ workshops series was held in Pisa from 11 to 13 September 2019 and was focused on Uncertainty Quantification in Fluid Dynamics.
Thanks to the rapidly growing computational resources and to the improvements in numerical and experimental techniques, increasingly complex fluid dynamics problems are nowadays investigated both numerically and experimentally. In this context, the issue of assessing and optimizing the accuracy and reliability of numerical and experimental predictions has become a timely challenge.
A large number of participants attended this 3-day workshop, with 5 keynote lectures given by international leading experts and 55 oral and poster presentations covering both recent methodological advances and state-of-the-art applications of UQ techniques to complex engineering or environmental fluid dynamics problems.
FrontUQ19 gave to participants a unique opportunity for discussions between different communities about methodological aspects and applications and the chance of enjoying the nice late summer atmosphere in Pisa.
The workshop sponsors, ERCOFTAC (SIG45), GAMM-UQ Activity Group, CNR IMATI and University of Pisa, are gratefully acknowledged.
