ERCOFTAC PC Poland

Lodz University of Technology, Poland

The XXVII Fluid Mechanics Conference (FMC 2026) will take place from 23rd to 26th June 2026 in Łódź, located in the very heart of Poland. The FMC series has been held biennially since 1974 at various locations across Poland, under the auspices of the Fluid Mechanics Section of the Polish Academy of Sciences and ERCOFTAC. The 2026 edition is organized by the Lodz University of Technology. The previous 26th FMC was organized by Warsaw University of Technology on 10th - 13th September 2024 (under auspices of ERCOFTAC).

The Fluid Mechanics Conference series is a leading regional event dedicated to presenting and discussing advances in fluid mechanics research, development, and applications. The FMC brings together researchers from both academia and industry, providing a forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas across the diverse fluid mechanics community. The conference covers a broad spectrum of contemporary fluid flow problems including fundamental and applied problems, novel experimental and numerical methods, and innovative applications.

In keeping with the tradition of the Fluid Mechanics Conference, the J.W. Elsner Competition will be held under the auspices of ERCOFTAC and PTMTiS. The competition aims to promote the research achievements of outstanding young scientists (up to 35 years of age) working in the field of fluid mechanics.

Plenary sessions will be organized and the following specialists agreed to give plenary talks:

  • Prof. Colm-cille P. Caulfield (University of Cambridge) - Stratified Turbulence: Climate’s Mysterious Mixer
  • Prof. Paul Cizmas (Texas A&M University) - Reduced-Order Models and Machine Learning of Unsteady Flows
  • Prof. Manuel García-Villalba (TU Wien) - Computational Modelling of Flow and Transport Phenomena in the Left Atrium
  • Prof. Ramis Örlü (Oslo Metropolitan University) - High-Resolution or High-Illusion? Revisiting the Role of Hot-Wire Anemometry in Wall Turbulence
