The Osborne Reynolds Day is an annual national event, organised by ERCOFTAC and hosted by the School of Engineering at The University of Manchester. This event has been running for over 20 years to celebrate the life and achievements of Prof Reynolds.
This event aims to bring together the researchers from academia and industry working in the broad field of fluid mechanics and showcase the latest research, innovation and development. This event will feature a prestigious presentation competition for recent doctoral graduates and soon-to-graduate PhD students and will host a panel discussion from both academia and industry to discuss the latest challenges
and opportunities in the field.

The competition:

The 2024 Osborne Reynolds PhD competition offers prestigious awards that celebrate the quality of students and graduates who have been pursuing doctoral level research across the broad domain of fluid mechanics, including turbulent, multi‐phase, stratified and free‐surface flows, convective transport processes, combustion and acoustics. Entries are welcome from schools of engineering, physics, mathematics or environmental sciences.

Prizes: All finalists will receive individual certificates of their contribution to Osborne Reynolds Day 2024 and the top three presentations
will receive cash prizes. They will also be put forward as the UK’s nominations to compete in the 2024 ERCOFTAC da Vinci competition.
