Meeting Venue

The meeting will be held in Villa Mondragone www.villamondragone.it in Monte Porzio Catone (near Rome), Italy. The area, about 20km south-east of the city of Rome, encompasses the Alban Hills and a number of towns, among which are Monte Porzio Catone and the near Frascati. The Castelli are known for their wines and food; being a volcanic area, they include two lakes (lago di Albano and lago di Nemi) which occupy former craters. Since early Roman days the Castelli have provided a green refuge from the city and still today Romans flock to the area on hot summer weekends.

Villa Mondragone is a magnificent building located in the middle of a park on top of a hill, enjoying a beautiful view towards Rome. Villa Mondragone, currently owned by University of Rome Tor Vergata, is a former summer residence of the Pope; it's there for example that Pope Gregorius XIII in 1582 issued the Bolla Pontificia (i.e. a charter of the Pope) titled Inter gravissimas which created the Gregorian calendar, i.e. the way we still employ today to measure time in the western world.
